Laser Hair Removal
Imagine not having to worry about unwanted hair any more! Laser Hair Removal is a safe and effective way to remove that unwanted hair.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a safe, effective, and fast way to remove unwanted hair.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
A special laser gently emits a precise beam of light which passes through your skin to destroy the hair follicle, without damaging the surrounding skin.
On what areas of the body will laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal can be performed on almost any part of the body, including the upper lip, bikini area, chin, neck, face arms, chest, back, and legs.
Who can be treated?
Almost anyone! Meridia’s modern lasers are equipped to treat all types of skin, regardless of complexion. Laser hair removal is not effective for the removal of blonde, gray, red hair.
Can men have Laser Hair Removal?
Yes! It is now very common for men to have hair removed from arms, neck, shoulders, and back. This is a great way to remove unwanted hair! In fact, many women recommend this for their partners.
Are there any side effects?
Laser hair removal is a very safe way to remove unwanted hair. Because the laser uses low energy, side effects are typically limited to short-term red bumps (depending on the site of treatment).
Will I feel any pain during the treatment?
The treatment will feel like a warm, tingling sensation. Most patients tolerate the procedure very well. Some areas of the body may be more sensitive than others, and topical numbing creams may be applied to minimize discomfort. Meet one of our aestheticians for a complimentary consultation.
How many treatments are needed?
Depending on the area, typically 6 – 8 treatments are required to achieve the best possible results. This is because laser hair removal is most effective when hair is in its active growth phase and only some hair is in this phase at any given time. Thus, it is impossible for one laser treatment to completely remove all hair.
What should I expect after the treatment?
The treated area may be slightly red and swollen. This will usually go away after a few hours, but may last 1-2 days. You can return to your work and your normal activities immediately. Hair will fall out of the treated area within 2-4 weeks, and some will grow back 4-12 weeks after that. This is why we recommend 6-8 treatments. Occasionally some people may have minor scabbing that will disappear in a few days.
Do I need to take any precautions before and after each treatment?
During your initial complimentary consultation our medical aesthetician will discuss the process and the precautions. You should stop tanning, plucking, using hair removal creams or waxing for a few weeks prior to the treatment.
In order to let the skin heal fully, please keep the treated area out of direct exposure to the sun for 7-10 days and always use a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30.
